Divorce - Avoiding the Heartache and Heartbreak

I hear families, divorcees and even single people doubting the entire marriage process. Why? Because if they ever have to divorce, their children and families may be destroyed for a very long time. I hear psychologists crying for help from the legal field because children are suffering needlessly through the divorce process.

As a licensed attorney I have represented, counseled and observed hundreds of beautiful loving people go to pieces in a divorce or child custody fight. They are ruined financially and "hate attorneys" because they give all the money to the attorneys and in many cases the legal process can drag on for months or years. Their lives are held in limbo.

Mediation involves an unbiased trained person who helps the parties resolve their issues. It is a means to "leave the relationship" but not destroy lives. Yet, attorney's can do their part to help resolve the cases and at least help them to resolve it as opposed to encourage the "fighting". It is ruining lives and causing some pretty bad karma for the attorneys and the clients; and as well the children are suffering their entire lives.

It is so interesting to me how attorneys separate their professional life from say their spiritual life or church life. It is like viewing two different people. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have compassion in the courtroom and yet still uphold the law and not just be there to destroy. My upcoming book entitled "Justice of the Heart" addresses that very issue.

Guardian ad Litems (GAL's) can help but only for those families who have the resources, otherwise they end up with untrained GAL's which can be worse than not having one. GAL Attorneys, the only ones I would recommend, represent the child.

Today's lawyers have a great opportunity to help bring a new professionalism to the legal field, to once again become "counselors of law".

Attorneys are not just "fighters"; they are healers and problem solvers. As a spiritual counselor Mh.D, I prefer to see people who are going through divorces find an opportunity through the process to grow spirituality, discover more of who they are, and see the opportunity the marriage created. Then and only then can their next relationship not be a repeat of the last one.

The Law of Attraction will make sure the new relationship is just like the past one, except with a different name and body, unless we all come together to help mend this legal process called "Divorce".
